Coloured hearts

This is a personal recount of a time my daughter touched my heart through her drawings. My daughter, Stephanie’s 7th birthday coincided with a weekend workshop I was running. As it was her birthday, we decided to spend the weekend together as a family. In the evening of the first day Stephanie came to me to share something she was doing. Being tired and busy, I brushed her off. A few minutes later she sent her elder brother, Erasmo with a card. It was a black and white drawing of a girl crying and a broken heart...

I had a friend whom I admired for his personal qualities: affectionate, disciplined, seeking intelligent skills to grow; apprehensive of using artificial elements to base his life on such as alcohol or drugs; with love for God and a loyal friend.

I knew his family were almost the opposite; no affection, disinterest in growth, apathy and addictions. It didn’t fit! My friend's character was diametrically opposed to his family of origin.

This article explains how my friend became such an amazing person in spite of his environment and because of role models in his life.
